We arrived at this place to find out that we had been upgraded to a suite, which was a pleasant surprise. The staff here were exceptional - very friendly and accommodating. Our waiter, Joseph, was brilliant. He served the food from the right hand side of the guest and was politely friendly. He even helped us with our luggage and orientation. The bathroom was excellent, with a warmed floor that added a touch of luxury.

Critchley Hackle needs a good revamp. Both the rooms and the gardens are looking very shabby. Having stayed there before we returned because of a good experience, but were disappointed this time. Services offered were minimal.

Absolutely loved the beautiful surroundings and friendly staff. The location was perfect, nestled in the tranquil countryside with stunning views all around. The staff were warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The food was exceptional, with delicious meals prepared to perfection. The breakfast menu was varied, offering a great selection of dishes to start our day off right. And the cherry on top was the cozy fireplace in our room, perfect for a romantic evening together.
There were a few areas that could be improved upon. The decor in our room was a bit outdated and could use some updating.

Loved the venue and scenery. The huge bed was so comfortable that I had difficulty leaving it behind, loved the pillows. The fireplace in the bedroom was awesome. Enjoyed the food in the restaurant and the breakfast especially the view in the morning of the lake. The location is great for mountain biking as well as being close to the main shopping area - within walking distance.

I was mislead from booking throught Booked.net to the stay. on the websitee it says 5star rating i do not book less than 5 star so this was wrong, on arriving i realized it was a 4 star hotel. The reception staff recieved us and we were placed in a room that was totally unacceptable as i paid the most expensive rate the hotel had. the previous day i was told by Carla at the abovementioned hotel that the room that i was booked is the best i complained to the manager which than hastilly put us in a suite that we acctually paid for. We left the following morning as it was to late to seek alternative accomdation that time of the evening. I am totally disatisfied from the booking to the hotel putting us in a inferior room when we booked the best the hotel had to offer i am going to report this to the tourism board as this is totaly unacceptable - misleading and stealing money
Sorry only noticed now that this is not for complaints but have requested from Carla to whom i could report this and nobody has come back to me

I was pleasantly surprised by my recent stay at Critchley Hackle Lodge. The beautiful location, surrounded by greenery, created a serene and tranquil atmosphere. The staff were friendly and accommodating, making me feel welcomed throughout my stay. The stunning setting, with cottages surrounding an artificial lake, provided a picturesque backdrop for relaxation. Despite being close to the main road, it was incredibly quiet, offering a peaceful retreat. I would highly recommend this hotel for its awe-inspiring location and friendly staff.

Helpfull friendly staff
Booking was based on internet info as well as previous good experiences..... On arrival we were booked into room 11 - filthy carpet combined with very dirty old curtains and untidy bed - disgusting ! We complained about this and were then transferred to room 8 which was neat and clean, as well as equipped with better furniture. We will not stay there again.

The surroundings were peaceful, perfect for relaxing and spending time lounging by the cozy fireplace. Being surrounded by trees and the calming presence of a pond created a serene atmosphere for a vacation. the breakfast served in the sunny room was delightful, offering a great start to the day.
The service was slow and unsatisfactory. We had to endure a long wait and were disappointed by the cold food that was served.

The location is good walking distance to the centre of Dullstroom and the staff are very efficient and friendly.
Critchley Hackle has definitely had its day and rooms are very tired. The bathroom needs renewing, carpets in bedroom are very old and marked. The hotel needs a general overhaul.
